Dark circle are considered as dark discoloration of the skin under the eye also known as dark rings or shadows.
Both men and women are different ages have dark circles. The main causes behind the formation of dark circle are aging, heredity, prolonged crying, dry skin, long hours working in front of computer, fatigue due to stress, unhealthy diet or lack of sleep.
Dark circles are not serious skin problem and you can get rid of shadows using some easy home remedies.
Rose water works as a good skin toner due to its mild astringent properties. Soak cotton eye pad in pure rose water after then put pads on your closed eyes and after about 15 minutes remove eye pads. This remedy should follow for a few weeks.
Soak 3-4 almonds overnight, grind into a smooth paste. Apply this paste on the under eye areas and leave for 30 minutes, wash gently. Do this regular for 3 months.
You can massage the dark circle area with almond oil, do this twice a day for at least 3 weeks. In addition to almond oil you can use vitamin E oil to eliminate dark circle under the eyes.
Natural agent present in potato which can help lighten dark circle.
Grate one or two raw potatoes to extract the juice, dip cotton pad and place on eye for 20 minutes. Rinse your eyelids with cool water. Repeat once or twice daily for few weeks.
Tomatoes also have bleaching properties. Mix one teaspoon of tomato juice with one half teaspoon of lemon juice, apply this mixture gently on dark circles and leave it for 10 minutes. You can drink a glass of tomato juice with a teaspoon of lemon juice and pinch of salt.
Cucumber have mild astringent properties. Great ½ a cup of cucumber and extract juice. Dip cotton pads in this juice and place on eyelids. After then wash it off water.
Simply massage some extra-virgin coconut oil on the dark circle area, after few hours wash it off. Repeat two or three times daily for a few months.
The vitamin C present in lemon juice can also help remove dark circles.
Apply lemon juice on dark circles using cotton balls, leave it on for about 10 minutes.
Another option is take ½ teaspoon of gram flour and add a pinch of turmeric powder, ½ teaspoon of tomato juice and ½ teaspoon of lemon juice. Mix to form a paste. Apply it carefully after 20 minutes, wipe with cotton ball soaked in water and pat dry.
Note: If the lemon juice causes a burning sensation then discontinue its use.
Turmeric has antioxidant and anti-inflammatory properties.
Make a thick paste with two teaspoons each of turmeric powder with pineapple juice, apply it on affected area for 10 minutes. Wipe with cotton ball soaked in water and pat dry. Do this daily until you get positive result.
- Drink plenty of water and sleep for 7-8 hours.
- Limit sun exposure.
- Stop Smoking and restrict alcohol.
- Remove your make-up before going to sleep.
- Avoid Rubbing your eyes too much or too often.
