Migraines: Causes, Symptoms and Treatments

Migrane is a severe pain condition arise over a part of head which is known as pounding The pain is sometimes described as “drilling,” and can be worse than migraine pain in some cases. It is accompanied by sensory warning signs such as flashes of light, blind spots, tingling in the arms and legs, nausea, vomiting, and increased sensitivity to light and sound.

Migraine may caused by following reasons:

mental stress like depression, over thinking, may cause migraine

temporary alteration in the nerve signals

chemicals and blood flow in the brain

Changes in sleep patterns or irregular sleep

Smoking or exposure to smoke

Skipping meals or fasting causing low blood sugar

oods containing tyramine (red wine, aged cheese, smoked fish, chicken livers, figs, and some beans), monosodium glutamate (MSG), or nitrates (like bacon, hot dogs and salami)

Before menstruating, women have a steep decline in estrogen that appears to spark migraines,

however exact cause of migraines is not known. Changes in neurotransmitter levels within the brain are thought to play a role.

Symptoms of migraines

Symptoms of migraine can occur a while before the headache, immediately before the headache, during the headache and after the headache. Although not all migraines are the same, typical symptoms include:

Moderate to severe pain, usually confined to one side of the head during an attack, but can occur on either side of the head

The pain is usually a severe, throbbing, pulsing pain 1m

Increasing pain during physical activity

Inability to perform regular activities due to pain

Feeling sick and physically being sick

Many people experience migraines with auras or warning signs just before or during the head pain, but many do not. Auras are perceptual disturbances such as:

Confusing thoughts or experiences3m

The perception of strange lights, sparkling or flashing lights

Zigzag lines in the visual field

Blind spots or blank patches in the vision

Pins and needles in an arm or leg                             Migraine with aura – structures and contrasts are lost

Difficulty speaking4m

Stiffness in the shoulders, neck or limbs

Unpleasant smells.

Treatment

Migraine headache treatment includes both drug and non-drug treatments. Non-drug treatments for migraine include biofeedback, sleep, smoking cessation, application of ice, and avoidance of triggers. Several medications and supplements are available to prevent and treat migraines.

Medication

treatment of migraine involves over-the-counter (OTC) or prescription medications. Prescription medications used to relieve the pain of migraine which include usually analgesic or antipyratic is taken. Since nausea and vomiting often accompany migraines, antinausea drugs like metoclopramide are often used with triptans. Some clinicians add an antidepressant to the treatment plan for some patients.

 Healthy diet

A good diet plan will surely help to migrane patients, or avoid dieting it will also reduce the chances of migrane.

Head massage

Massage with a gud hair oil massage with coconut oil is effective you can use other herbal oil also which have no smell.

Adequate sleep

Play it safe by being consistent about when you go to bed and get up. take proper sleep, sleep changeas may increases migraine.

Yoga

 It focuses on mindfulness, such as hatha and restorative yoga, migraine can be eased with rejuvenating, playful yoga postures are proven to effective.

Acupuncture:

It is a ancient Chinese techniques which is effective against migrane. Several studies have found that it provides some of the same long-term results as drugs but without side effects. While this efficacy may be partly caused by the placebo effect, the treatment can still provide real relief and will relief pain.
