What Is Bucket System for cleaning and sanitization?

In Pharma Industries, for cleaning and sanitization bucket are used, when two buckets are used its named as two bucket system and when three buckets are used its named as three bucket system.

In two bucket system:

  • Required quantity of disinfectant solution took in the first bucket.
  • Adequate quantity of water should taken in the second bucket,
  • Floor first moped with disinfectants, than rinsed in water bucket and squeezed in the same than again mop dipped into disinfectant bucket for moping the floor, after that dipped into water bucket; this procedure has been followed to clean the floor.
  • In this system water bucket is used only for rinsing of mop prior to rinsing in the disinfectant in the (first bucket) or we can say as water bucket used to rinse contaminants from the mop

In three bucket system:

  • Required quantity of disinfectant solution took in the first bucket.
  • Adequate quantity of water should taken in the second bucket
  • And third bucket should be empty
  • Dipping the mop in disinfectant & mopping the floor than dipping the mop in the bucket of water, after that squeezing of mop should be into the third (empty) bucket. Than dipping mop again mop in disinfectant and repeat the same to clean the floor.

Advantage or why we use

Bucket systems ensure that contaminants picked up on the mop are not redistributed to the area.

These systems are required and used for clean rooms cleaning. following points can be follow at the time of cleanroom cleaning:

  • Moping should be as per “pull and lift” method with the mop, stroking in one direction only.
  • After fix stroke of mop, mop to be rinsed as per pre-defined area SOPs.
  • Both the buckets (water and the disinfectant solution) replaced with fresh, when it becomes dirty.
  • Moping should always be from critical to less critical area.
